TACTICS OGRE: THE KNIGHT OF LODIS Character Duplication Guide v1.3 Tactics Ogre is a great Strategy/RPG, though is does have one sorely overlooked glitch that many people (I myself included) have taken advantage of. By following a certain process, anyone can duplicate their characters and even manage to create the ULTIMATE character (which is actually a glitch character; I'll go into that later). WARNING: I assume no responsibility for anything this might do to your game, so don't come whining to me if you lose all your saved games (It can happen, I'm a textbook example). Updates ---------- v1.3 Included a few more points on the glitch character, as well as an important update. v1.1 Included how to keep the glitch character, which was necessary for snapping it. v1.02 Fixed error in character duplication v1.01 Gave GreenGuy credit for the glitch character The Actual Duplication --------------------------- First step, choose the person you want to duplicate. Keep in mind that this character's equipment will ALSO be duplicated as well, so you can gain more of that hard-to-get item that you've been searching for. This includes spellbooks and special techniques (Get more than one Lachesis, Atropos or Clotho.... hehe). If you plan on duplicating items, make sure that there are no more available to equip. Next, choose two junk characters that you don't use (hiring Lv. 1 faeries works well for this). Place the three characters at the end of the list in this order: 1. Junk Character 2. Junk Character 3. Soon-to-be duplicated character Make sure that you set the list so their numbers are in the right order. Get into a random or story battle (Training doesn't count, unless you want to waste a SnapDragon), and make sure character 2 and 3 are included. Intentionally kill no. 2 and finish the battle as normal. Immediately after the battle, open up the Organize screen and then choose 'sort', then 'execute'. Leave the screen and enter training. Exit as soon as you can (don't even bother choosing teams), and then check the organize screen. Characters 1 and 2 will be gone, and 3 will be there, twice! Congratulations! You just successfully duplicated your character! Item Duplication ------------------- Note: The following items CANNOT be duplicated correctly: Snapdragon Swords Anbicion Longicolnis Pearl Necklace Circlet of Wisdom While the character will be duplicated, their items will be too. Head to the nearest shop, and be ready to make a lot of cash. When you start to sell, you will see that the number of current items will exceed the number of max. items (i.e. 2/1). First off, sell 99 of the item. While it may be tempting to sell as many as you can, don't. This can really mess up your game (I know, I tried -.-). You should now have an accurate number frou the max. amount, but it's still actually much more than it says. Sell 58 plus the number you had when you started (If you had 3 before you started, you would sell 61 of the item). Congratulations! You should now have 99 of that item! This also works for spellbooks, as well. The Glitch Character ------------------------- This is where things start to get really fun. To create a glitch character, continue as usual with the character duplication glitch. However, when you choose 'execute' from the sort menu, make sure you have the character you are duplicating highlighted. Choose 'execute, and you will be highlighting an empty space, with a character named P.H.I.F.G.Q.F.G. Depending on your progress through the game, it will have a different Class and portrait (for example, if you try this at the beginning of the game, It may be Orson, and an Archer. I've done this at the beginning of the 3rd charpter as well, in which I got a Wizard with Ivanna's portrait). To actually keep the glitch, choose to manually switch characters, and choose the glitch. Now, exchange it. You'll find that you cant exchange it with a normal character, as the game claims that the character is locked and cannot be changed. Unfortunately, you're going to have to exchange it with a unique character. While this does sound harsh, keep in mind that the glitch is much more powerful than any special character you'll ever get. Special Characters Include: Ivanna Glycinia Lubina Orson Shiven Cybil Rictor That mermaid who joins you (can't remember her name) Euphaire Elrik Eleanor Alphonse (NOT recommened at ALL) *UPDATE* I've gotten a lot of questions about getting the glitch, snapping it, etc., so here is the method I used just last night to get it. -Lock Alphonse (So you won't lose him). -Start the cloning process and clone Euphaire, EXCEPT do the following: -Get 4 junk characters, instead of 2 -Kill the third one in battle intentionally. -Follow the rest of the cloning process, up to the part right after you clone. -Dismiss or snap the second Euphaire. -Try to move the remaining Euphaire manually, If you can't, you've done everything right. -Now, highlight Euphaire, and hit Execute again. You should be highlighting the glitch. -Move the glitch and replace a special character with it. Stats of the glitch include: Virtue Element Level 6 (or 7, or 8) 64 EXP Walking movement Wading movement 11.9 move 392 HP 390 MP 999 STR (Actually 16334) 999 INT (Actually 16330) 999 AGI (Actually 25835) 999 ATK 908 DEF 999 Spell ATK 999 Spell DEF Assorted powerful weapons, which you CAN'T keep (ah darn...). The spells Thunder Flare, Summon Golem, Thunder Flare, Summon Golem (This might be different, but it's what I got) Was previously a Red Dragon (o_O) Enter battle with the glitch and standby to get the following emblems: Blood Reign Dragon Scale Animal Hunter Gibe of the Fallen Angel Lancer Philosopher's Stone Self Preservation Berserk Arbitration Broken Heart War God Knight's Certificate Book of Initiation Miracle Sniper Fist Fight Don Quixote Embodiment of Desires Archangel's Feather The Cycle of Life Charisma Bogus Hero Veteran Soldier In order to change the class of the glitch, Press R on the organize screen and select class. Choose a Male class and select the glitch. However, If you choose to change class the other way, there will be no classes you can change into, and the glitch's protrait may change, as well as it's stats (It's just temporary, but the potrait of mine changed into Saia, and wouldn't let me dismiss it either). It can turn into the following MALE classes: Soldier Ninja Archer Wizard Cleric Knight Swordmaster Dragoon Beast Tamer It cannot be dismissed Note: Do NOT exchange Alphonse and the glitch character. Disastrous effect will occur. Note: If you do end up with Summon Golem on the glitch character, DO NOT use it. Your game will freeze. Snapping the Glitch ------------------------ This is actually quite tough. The game does NOT want you to snap this character, for obvious reasons (^.^). Enter Training. Place the glitch in Team B, with at least one other character. Use a SnapDragon to snap the glitch. The game might freeze at this point. It if doesn't, proceed to kill the other character, but DON'T PICK UP THE SWORD! The game should say "Team A wins!", and a text box will appear, stating that items will be picked up. The game may freeze at this point as well. If nothing freezes, you are VERY lucky (my game freezed on me 19 times before I finally was able to Snap the glitch successfully). Now, if you try to equip the sword, your game will freeze. To equip it, enter any battle (Training is OK) and enter the organize screen before you start. Equip the sword, and the game may freeze, it may not. There seems to be a 50/50 chance. If the game didn't freeze, enter battle, and keep this sword on the character for a while. Keep in mind, that while many Graphical glitches WILL occur, just be patient. Eventually, the game will seem to get used to having a grossly overpowered sword (STR+ 8167, INT+ 8165, AGI+ 5167) in the game, and won't glitch up anymore. Until then, however, your game may freeze up at any point and time. . . . . Well, that's all, folks! Have fun messing around with yor game's bugs, and cheat like crazy! Special Thanks ------------------ My grandparents, who gave me the B-Day money to buy this game. Funcoland, for having this game in stock. Layoneil, for bringing this Character duping trick to my attention. GreenGuy, for discovering the glitch character. Questions? Comments? Email me at epileptichamham@aol.com
